An article entitled 'Commercial archaeology and the study of Roman York' by Patrick Ottaway has just been published (April 2015) in the volume The Towns of Roman Britain: the contribution of commercial archaeology since 1990. Britannia Monograph 27. The article reviews recent advances in knowledge of the Roman fortress and town at York (Roman Eboracum) based on a great variety of archaeological projects which have examined the Roman cemeteries and suburbs in much more detail than hitherto as well as the historic core of the city.
